Development Bank of Ethiopia Secures €110 Million Financing to Boost Agricultural Growth and Strengthen Local Businesses
The Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE), in partnership with EIB Global, has secured a €110 million financing facility aimed at accelerating the growth of Ethiopia’s agricultural sector and empowering local businesses.
The initiative underscores a strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. Notably, 50 percent of the total funding is earmarked to support women-led enterprises, while 20 percent is allocated to climate adaptation efforts, helping communities better withstand environmental and economic shocks.
By prioritizing both gender inclusion and climate resilience, the program is expected to strengthen Ethiopia’s agricultural value chains, improve productivity, and enhance the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises to thrive in a changing climate.
The partnership aligns with the broader objectives of the Global Gateway, which focuses on fostering sustainable infrastructure, economic growth, and resilience in partner countries.
Overall, the financing marks a significant step toward building a more resilient, inclusive, and competitive agricultural sector in Ethiopia.
